What are UNEDasiss PCE courses and why do you need them?
UNEDasiss is the UNED service that manages the accreditation and tests for international students to participate in the admission processes of most Spanish public universities.
The UNEDasiss PCE (Specific Competency Tests) are tests based on the Spanish Baccalaureate syllabus , and are required for:
- Apply for admission to most universities.
- Improve your entrance grade and get into university through priority access.
In other words: if you want to study at a Spanish university you have to take the PCE UNEDasiss.
Important! Each Autonomous Community in Spain has different admission criteria , so the first step is to find out the admission requirements of the university where you want to study. You can consult the official UNED website.
Step by step: Studying in Spain while being from Mexico
Choosing your destination: degree and university
Before you start studying, the first thing you need to decide is:
- What university degree would you like to study?Healthcare, Engineering, Business, Finance, Humanities…
- In which region of Spain You're going to apply for a place at the university: Madrid, Murcia, Galicia, Andalusia, Valencia…

First step: homologation to the Spanish Baccalaureate
One requirement of UNEDasiss for obtaining accreditation and applying to the university is having initiated the process of validating your Mexican high school diploma (Bachillerato or Preparatoria) as equivalent to the Spanish Bachillerato . In Mexico, this level of education corresponds to upper secondary education (Educación Media Superior), typically completed between the ages of 15 and 18, and is a prerequisite for university admission. To do so, you will need to submit:
- Copy of your identity document.
- Copy of the high school diploma or preparatory school certificate: legalized and with the Hague Apostille.
- Certification of grades for the last two years of high school in Mexico.
This procedure can be done electronically, or in person at the Spanish Consulate in Mexico City, Guadalajara or Monterrey, or the Government Delegations for Foreigners in Spain.
👉Frequently asked question: To apply for UNEDasiss accreditation, take the PCE exams, and apply for a university place, it is NOT necessary to have already received your officially validated high school diploma. It is sufficient to have started the process and submit the certificate you receive at the beginning.
UNEDasiss application and PCE exams
When February arrives, the application period for UNEDasiss accreditation usually opens .
This deadline usually ends on the last day of April . The most important thing before the deadline is to have submitted and paid for the UNEDasiss service you subscribe to. Uploading documents (passport, academic transcripts, etc.) can be done at any time.
The PCE exams take place in late May or early June , depending on the region of the world in which you take them.

Application for admission to a Spanish university
The UNEDasiss PCE grades are published around the third week of June . With your accreditation and final PCE results, it's time to:

- Upload the required documentation within the stipulated timeframe.
- Pay attention to the schedule and resolve any issues that may arise with your application.
Two ways to prepare for the PCE if you are from Mexico
Online courses
If you want to prepare for the PCE exams without coming to Spain , the best option is a preparation that combines:
- Live classes via Zoom: so you can have real-time contact with your teachers.
- Correction and monitoring of tasks by teachers, because without real feedback you will not reach a good level.
- Exam simulations, so that your official PCE exam isn't the first one you take.
Face-to-face courses in Madrid

Come to study in Spain with a student visa

The requirements from the Spanish Consulate in Mexico typically include proof of enrollment in your studies, sufficient funds, proof of accommodation in Spain, and student health insurance.
How to choose your PCE subjects if you are from Mexico
Choosing the right subjects depends on the university degree you want to pursue and the region of Spain where you want to study . You will likely need to take four subjects in regions like Madrid, Valencia, Murcia, Extremadura, the Basque Country, or Castile and León. Others, such as Catalonia, the Canary Islands, or Andalusia, require six subjects. Here are some typical course configurations based on the most popular degrees:
- To Engineering or ArchitectureMathematics, Physics, and Technical Drawing as your specific subjects. In addition, you will probably take at least one common subject: Language, English, or History of Philosophy.
