If you have a high school diploma equivalent to the Spanish system and dream of studying at a university in Spain as an international student, it's important to understand the admissions process. What is UNEDasiss accreditation?

The UNEDasiss accreditation is a certificate issued by the UNED (National University of Distance Education) and recognized by most Spanish universities. It allows international students to access the Spanish university system.

Who can apply?

It is intended for students who have completed their studies in their country of origin and whose degree is equivalent to the Spanish Baccalaureate.

When is it requested?

Registrations usually open between February and May. However, to start the process it is essential to have started the process of homologation of the Baccalaureate, submitting the following documents to the Ministry of Education:

  • Baccalaureate degree
  • Transcript of grades for the last two years
  • Hague Apostille (if applicable)

👉 Important! You don't need to have completed the homologation process to take the PCE exams; you just need to have started the process.

UNEDasiss Services

When processing your accreditation, you can purchase various services depending on the requirements of the university you wish to attend:

  1. Admission qualification to Spanish public universities: UNEDasiss calculates your entrance grade based on your previous studies.
  2. Specific Competence Tests (PCE UNEDasiss): Exams that measure your level in different subjects and are essential for most universities.
  3. Assignment of Baccalaureate modalityIn Spain, the Baccalaureate is divided into four modalities:
    • Science
    • Social Sciences and Humanities
    • Fine Arts
    • General Baccalaureate

Choosing the right PCE subjects is key to ensuring that UNED can assign the appropriate modality to your profile.

4. Spanish level accreditationIf you come from a non-Spanish-speaking country, you will need to demonstrate a minimum level of Spanish (B1 or B2, depending on the university). This can be done with official certificates such as the DELE or SIELE.

Changes in the PCE with the LOMLOE

Starting with the 2023-2024 academic year, Spain's new education law, LOMLOE, has introduced some changes to the UNEDasiss PCE.

  • New subjects and changes in contentSome subjects have updated their syllabi, so it is important to prepare with up-to-date materials.
  • History of Philosophy now it's a general core subject, as was already the History of Spain.
  • New modality of General Baccalaureate, focused on students who wish to access university degrees without a specific specialization.
  • Flexible subject configurationFor example, in the Sciences track, you can choose between Mathematics II or Mathematics Applied to Social Sciences. In the Arts track, you can choose Artistic Drawing as a core subject.
  • New types of exercises: These are known as competency-based development exercises. They are characterized by more complex wording, sometimes with real-world applications, and often require deeper reasoning. Given their recent inclusion in the exam, the best way to prepare for these types of exercises, which now account for approximately 40% of the total grade, is with a teacher who can guide you and teach you the appropriate tools to tackle them.
