Every year our students ask us the same question: how is my UNEDasiss grade calculated?
In this article, I'll try to explain it to you in simple terms, so you can understand step by step how your score is calculated. At the end of the article, you can use our calculator to estimate your final admission score for applying to Spanish universities.
What is the difference between your UNEDasiss Grade and your Access Grade?
If you have applied for UNEDasiss accreditation, you will see the "UNED Qualification that will be used by Spanish universities to establish their admission score." We call that CAU (University Admission Qualification)and its value is from 5 to 10. During the university admission application process, universities will review your UNEDasiss credential and your CAU, and depending on your PCE scores, they may increase your grade by up to 4 points, forming your Access Note, whose value is from 5 to 14.
This entrance grade is what determines which university degrees you can access, and it's the one you should compare with the famous cut notes.
How it is calculated according to your country of origin
Your entry grade is calculated differently depending on the nationality of your education system.
Students with direct access to university
Students whose educational system is from the European Union, the International Baccalaureate (IB), China, Colombia, or European Schools that meet the requirements can apply for UNEDasiss accreditation and receive a CAU (University Access Certificate), which will be equivalent to the grade in their original educational system. That is, if your original high school grade is approximately 8 out of 10, UNEDasiss will directly give you a CAU of 8 out of 10. These students can then take the PCE (University Access Exams) to improve their score by up to 4 points and achieve an Access Grade that allows them to enter universities.
In this case, the formula for your Access Grade will be:
Access Note = CAU + 0,2M1 + 0,2M2
Universities will take the grades of the two best subjects that are weighted at 0,2, provided they are passed, and multiply them by this value to make up your final grade.
Students with a recognized high school diploma
If your education system is from any other country, the CAU calculation is determined by your Baccalaureate Average Grade (NMB) and the grades of your four highest PCE exams, provided you passed them. The calculation is as follows:
CAU = 4 + 0,2*NMB + 0,1*M1 + 0,1*M1 + 0,1*M1 + 0,1*M1
This is the CAU (University Access Certificate) that will appear on your UNEDasiss accreditation. As with the students in the previous section, these students can take the PCE (University Access Exams) to improve their score by up to 4 points and achieve an Access Grade that allows them to enter universities.
In this case, the formula for your Access Grade will be:
Access Note = CAU + 0,2M1 + 0,2M2
Universities will take the grades of the two best subjects that are weighted at 0,2, provided they are passed, and multiply them by this value to make up your final grade.
